Paint Protection Film

Paint Protection Film in West Auckland

Stone chips, gravel rash, road debris — PPF is impact armour for your paint. Clear, self-healing urethane, pre-cut to your vehicle's panels and installed by hand.

What's involved

PPF is a 200-300 micron clear urethane film applied to high-impact zones. The film absorbs stone chips that would otherwise crack your clear coat. Modern self-healing films return to their original shape after minor abrasions when warmed by sunlight.

Installation is done by hand, panel by panel. Pre-cut kits exist for common vehicles, but bespoke installations (full-bonnet, full-front, or full-vehicle) require manual cutting and squeegeeing in a clean booth.

Why DTM for PPF

PPF tolerance is measured in millimetres. Bad install = visible edges, bubbles, peeling at panel gaps. We work in a dust-controlled space with proper booth lighting and only use top-tier urethane (not the cheap Chinese stuff).

Common questions

8-10 years on properly maintained installations. Premium urethane films from XPEL, SunTek, or 3M are warrantied for 10 years against yellowing and delamination.

High-quality film is virtually invisible at 1m. You can see edges if you look for them at panel gaps. Lower-quality films yellow over 2-3 years and become visible — we don't install those.

Yes, cleanly — if installed properly. The whole point is that it comes off without residue or paint damage when you sell or replace it. Cheap films can leave adhesive behind.

Front-end (bonnet, bumper, mirrors): $1,800-$2,800. Full-front: $3,500-$5,500. Full vehicle: $7,000+. Quoted on inspection.
