Exterior Detailing

Exterior Detailing in West Auckland

Decontaminate, restore clarity, protect. A real exterior detail removes everything bonded to your paint that a wash can't — then leaves a layer that fights back.

What's involved

Modern car paint isn't static — every drive embeds contaminants. Brake dust, tar, tree sap, industrial fallout — these bond to clear coat and degrade it from the outside in. A wash gets surface dirt; a detail gets the bonded stuff.

We start with iron-remover (turns brake dust purple as it lifts), follow with clay bar (mechanically pulls bonded particles), polish if needed (removes light defects), and finish with a multi-month sealant or wax.

Why DTM for exteriors

An exterior detail without proper decontamination is just a fancy car wash. We treat decontamination as the actual job — protection at the end is the easy part.

Common questions

A hand wash gets surface dirt. A detail removes bonded contamination — iron particles embedded in your clear coat, tar, tree sap, road grime that's been there for months. Different process, different result.

Detailing is recurring (every 3-6 months). Ceramic is one-time (lasts 5+ years). If you keep your car for 3+ years, ceramic is cheaper long-term. If you flip cars every year, detailing is enough.

Sealant: 3-6 months. Carnauba wax: 6-12 weeks. Ceramic spray: 4-6 months. We'll recommend based on your usage and parking situation.

Standard sedan: $280-$450. SUV/4WD: $400-$650. Includes decontamination, clay bar, polish if needed, and protection layer.
