Ceramic Coating

Ceramic Coating in West Auckland

9H hardness, 5+ years of hydrophobic protection, and a depth of gloss you can't get from waxes or sealants. Applied by hand, one vehicle at a time, in our Henderson studio.

What you're paying for

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds with your clear coat at a molecular level. Once cured (24-48hrs), it forms a hard, glass-like layer that water sheets off, contaminants don't bond to, and UV rays can't fade.

The application is the entire job. Surface prep takes 8-12 hours: full decontamination wash, iron remover, clay bar, two-stage paint correction. The coating itself is the last step. Skip the prep and you're sealing in defects.

Why DTM for ceramic

Most detail shops install ceramic in 6 hours. We don't. Proper prep is 70% of the job — paint correction first, coating second. Josh applies every coat personally; we don't hand jobs to apprentices.

Yes — daily drivers benefit MORE because the coating prevents bird-drop etching, road salt corrosion, and bug-acid damage. Garage queens benefit from gloss; daily drivers benefit from protection.

Range is $1,800-$3,500 depending on vehicle size and paint condition. We quote firm after a 30-minute paint inspection — no upselling, no surprises.

No — they work together. Ceramic is chemical/UV protection; PPF is impact protection. For high-spec cars we recommend PPF on impact zones (front bumper, bonnet, mirrors) plus ceramic over the whole car.
